Four Tips for Time Management in College

Whenever I ask someone about college, they are always telling me: no matter how hard the college is, it’s all about time management.  Time management is something that a lot of people can’t do but it’s not because they are lazy, they just don’t know how.   CollegeBoard provides a list of 11 tips for time management but I think a few of them are a bit unreasonable so I have devised my own list of four.

Here are my four tips for time management in college:

1. Make a “To Do” List.

This is something I personally lack in.   I always used to think I could just remember everything including assignments, chores, errands, and I’ve learned the hard way that it’s just not possible.

2. A Good Night’s Sleep & A Good Breakfast.

Not getting a good night’s sleep is almost as bad as not eating breakfast in the morning.  Your body needs sleep and it needs energy and it makes the day THAT much longer when you do not supply yourself with both.  With sleep and energy, you can get more things done more efficiently.

3. Stop Worrying.

Wow, what a big one.  There’s not one person I know that doesn’t procrastinate about an assignment at least once a week and you can save yourself so much time and hassle by just getting something done.

4. Put Down The Gadgets.

Having an iPod, cellphone, and a computer all one desk with your homework hanging off the edge does not help at all.  Whenever you try multi-tasking homework with all these electronics, it always takes longer.  Isolate yourself from these things and become more efficient in what you do.  Turn off your instant messenger and close your email if you plan on working on the computer.
